About the Owen Barfield Society

Home

The principal goal of the Owen Barfield Society is to further understanding and appreciation of Owen Barfield’s life and work.  It is hoped that the Society may become a community of scholars in which Owen Barfield’s three “publics” – students of the Inklings, students of anthroposophy, and mainstream academics – can all participate, communicate with each other, and even collaborate.

As an aid to students of Owen Barfield’s life and work, the Owen Barfield Society provides the definitive bibliography of Owen Barfield’s published writings (1917-2011) on its Web site.  The Society also posts Barfieldian scholarship by members, as well as news and announcements of interest to Barfieldians.  The Society is in process of creating a peer-reviewed e-journal, Consciens: A Journal of the Literary Arts and Humanities.

The Owen Barfield Society meets annually.  The Society’s meetings are held under the auspices of the Rocky Mountain Modern Language Association.  The Society is an affiliate organization of RMMLA.
